Officers were involved in an officer involved shooting that occurred on interstate 5 in Lathrop.

The suspect, a 40 year old Manteca resident identified as Juan Valdez, was wanted in connection to a domestic violence incident that occurred in Lathrop. Valdez fled officers, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

The suspect attempted to carjack a vehicle on southbound Interstate 5, a Lathrop Police officer on scene shot at the suspect. He was struck by the officer's gunfire and was apprehended. Officers immediately rendered first aid until Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene.
