The first minibus to leave Hopar village was at 7 am, and my host from Cafe De Glacier was nice enough to walk me and my new Lahori friends to where we could catch the bus. After a rather uncommunicated transfer to another bus, I was eventually on my way back to the Karakoram Highway, passing dirt road villages with distant snow capped peaks along the way. Ali Abad was a village I had already passed through several times before heading to or from other destinations in the area, and I always really enjoyed my time there. During my ride to Sost from Ali Abad, there was a very obvious, yet gradual scenery change from the Karakoram Mountains to the all too familiar Pamir Mountains I had spent time in 2 years before. As with every other journey along the Karakoram Highway, the faces changed along with the language and the culture altogether. I had reached the far north of Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan and new adventures were just around the corner! 🇵🇰
