Plymouth Natural Grid has been delivering a Nature based Solutions project across Plymouth, creating climate resilient landscapes that store more carbon and empower communities.

The programme is co-sponsored by BEIS and Defra and led by Natural England in partnership with the Environment Agency, RBG Kew and the Forestry Commission. This project is part of a larger programme, Nature Returns, consisting of six partnerships across the UK. These local partnerships are working with scientists, local businesses and communities exploring approaches to creating and restoring natural habitats in ways that tackle climate change and biodiversity loss.

Plymouth Natural Grid Nature Based Solutions project has been running from January 2023 consisting of National Trust Rangers, Plymouth City Council Officers and Countryside Management Apprentices. The project will continue under the Nature Returns scheme.
