Mufti Ismail Menk talks about the rights of the parents from a number of different aspects including the following -
Pleasing and serving parents, speaking respectfully, making time for parents, responsibilities to parents after marriage, how to treat the parents of your spouse, how to treat non-Muslim parents, looking after elderly parents, obedience to the father, kindness to the mother, seeking advice from parents, consulting parents when intending to get married, duties towards deceased parents.

"Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none save Him, and (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain to old age with thee, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word. And lower unto them the wing of submission through mercy, and say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I was little!"
