If you love rock guitar, chances are you’re an Iceman fan. Guitar legends like Paul Stanley of Kiss, Paul Gilbert and Daron Malakian of System Of A Down have made these unique beasts a much-loved staple of the scene over the years, even though they seem to be fairly rare out in the wild.

Until now. These 2024, China-made Iceman guitars are a great way to get that Iceman cool on a budget! And the specs - on paper - look amazing. Firstly, you get a nice gig bag with the guitar, which is a great touch.

You also get an Okoume body and neck, with a jatoba fingerboard, and a pair of Ibanez's iconic Super 80 humbuckers (with the awesome Flying Fingers decal!). The neck is a standard C shape - not too thin, not too chunky - with 22 medium frets, and the massive headstock is also an Iceman must.

As this is my first real time with an Iceman, though, I also want to see how versatile it can be, and so in this video, I test the guitar in as many different genres and styles as I can. That means everything from country, folk and indie, to pop, rock, punk - and of course some downtuned heavy stuff too!

30:28 My conclusions on the Iceman and why you should buy it

My setup was as follows: I ran the Iceman into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head, also using my Greer Lightspeed and my Revv G3 pedals for overdrive and heavy distortion sounds. The amp went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done.
