Pancreatic cysts are increasingly identified during the course of medical evaluation for a variety of conditions because of improved resolution and increased use of computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the abdomen. These cysts are common and relevant because many of them have potential to become cancer. However, potential and realization are very different and most of these do not progress to cancer where it really matters. The challenge, however, is that we don’t quite know which ones need to be followed and which ones we can ignore. In this session, we will review what is known and unknown and questions and concerns on this topic will be discussed.
Presenter:
Walter G. Park, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Stanford University, and Medical Director of the Benign Pancreas Program within Stanford Health Care.
