In 2016 we followed rappers Harris de Hakker, MellaMell and EZG to better understand the world of Dutch hooliganrap.

Hooliganism is a hobby that not many people understand. Oftentimes, the guys who participate in it feel they have been misrepresented by the media. We noticed that nowadays most football clubs have a rap anthem: a track made by guys from within the supporters scene. This goes to show that hooligan culture is not just a topic of discussion in newspapers, but also in music. Hooligan rap paints a more authentic picture of the supporter culture.

In 2016 we zoomed in on the 'hooligan rap' phenomenon and followed three rappers: PSV supporter Harris de Hakker, Ajax fan MellaMell and FC Utrecht supporter EZG. They talk about their fiery club love, the emergence of hooligan anthems and codes of conduct for football violence.
