A former Tory MP and health minister has made a bold move by defecting to Labour.

Dr. Dan Poulter, MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, who also works as a part-time mental health doctor in the NHS, expressed his reasons in an exclusive interview with the Observer.

He blasted the Conservatives, labeling them as a "nationalist party of the right" that has lost compassion and neglected the NHS.

Poulter announced his resignation from the Tory party and revealed his intention to align with Labour until the next election. He won't seek re-election but plans to advise Labour on mental health policies while focusing on his NHS work.

His decision stemmed from his experiences during night shifts in an overstretched A&E department, which convinced him that Labour is the only party truly dedicated to enhancing the NHS.
