In the midst of the chaos and devastation of World War I, Sergeant Michael Dunn finds himself entrenched in the relentless battles alongside Canadian forces. Severely wounded, he miraculously survives and is sent back home for recovery. In the hospital, he meets the enchanting nurse Sarah, who tends to his injuries and witnesses his suffering firsthand.



Sarah lives with her younger brother David, whose dreams of joining the front lines are shattered by his asthma, rendering him unfit for military service. Unable to fathom the nightmares of war, David longs for the opportunity to prove himself on the battlefield.
