Groundhog Day is on February 2 in Punxatawny, Pennsylvania, and the Punxatawny Groundhog Festival is a week in July held in Barclay Square.
This year in February we stayed overnight in a nearby town ($80 as opposed to $400 or $120 Punxatawny, or $8 in the old high school-now community center). We arrived at Gobblers Knob right at 6:30 am (the celebration starts at 3 am) and spent the morning in Punxy walking around other like-minded people with wonky and groundhog hats.
