For my first ever Age of Wonder's game, I had a blast! The game's a great package mix, the combat is fun just as the strategy side is fun. We didn't play too much combat though thanks to playing in multiplayer, so any battles that weren't essential to fight we autoresolved instead. However when we did fight we were totally running the elf's fade and would have stomped him into oblivion, turned him into gold and then used that gold to clear cut forests, and in time the Square would become a Cube. Just as Gnaw Bigwood intended.
