May 1st, 2020 marks a new era in engine oil formulation and protection. GF-6 is the latest minimum ILSAC standard for passenger car engine oils to ensure they are meeting the needs of newer vehicles and engine technologies. A simple oil and filter change are not a routine service anymore. With advanced engines using oil life monitors and ways to customize the service intervals, technicians need to be prepared to service these newer engines with oils and filters that meet or exceed the manufacturers recommendations. This will maintain the fuel economy, performance and emission standards engineered into the vehicle, while protecting and maintaining the vehicles warranty.
