If he/she is a little nervous around you but is normally a really calm person, that is an indication. For instance if he is joking around with people and all of a sudden you show up, he might act a little more "proper," and you might notice sweating, blushing, or possibly his hands might tremble slightly. Those are all signs of nerves. Also, if he starts asking around about you, that is a definite indication he is interested. No one would do that if they don't care.
