During the 2022 investor day presentation, Hyundai announced its revised plan to increase the number of models to a total of 17 in its E-V lineup to be completed before 2027, en route to selling 1.87 million units of EVs annually by the year 2030. This, however, is only for Hyundai branded products and for its Genesis luxury brand, it has a separate plan of completing a lineup comprised of 6 E-V models, including 4 SUVs and 2 sedans by 2030. Genesis is going to be releasing only the battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles from 2025, and by the year 2030, it’s becoming an exclusive E-V company. So as a company that’s going to sell only EVs, these 6 models ought to be darn good.
And they seemed to be, from looking at their initial offerings, such as the electrified G80 sedan and GV70, as well as its first-ever dedicated electric car the GV60, based on the state of the art EGMP platform, which it shares with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Kia EV6 counterparts, already highly renowned and decorated electric cars, that have won such awards as the European Car of The Year and the German Car of The Year, among countless other acclaims.
And in this episode, we will explore what is likely to become the 3rd SUV model, and the 4th E-V model overall from Genesis, the GV90, which is expected to be the largest and also the most luxurious vehicle ever to come out of Korea.
