The all-new, Fox based, seventh gen Continental was a foot and a half shorter than the previous model. It had a style that was reminiscent of the Versailles which had ceased production two years earlier. As a mid-size sedan it was intended to compete with Cadillac's Seville. The bustle-back trunk design is a Marmite feature if ever there was one.
