In this video, @electricianron is in Osterville, Massachusetts, wiring a 24,000-watt standby generator on a house for a good friend who’s recently retired. They begin by drilling an oversized hole in the wall to fit a 2-inch conduit and use a PVC LB fitting to protect the cable. They roll out a specific cable assembly for the generator and secure it to the floor joists using PVC straps. The generator is an air-cooled one, so clearance on both sides is important. The speaker talks about the importance of following regulations and permits when positioning the generator. They discuss their experience as a generator dealer and installer, recommending regular maintenance to keep the generator in good condition. They show the wiring process and the installation of heaters for the battery and oil filter. However, due to a gas connection issue, they were unable to start up the generator at the time of filming. The video concludes with a teaser for part two.
