Throughout the Star Wars timeline, both canon and non-canon, there have been a few instances in which the dead came back to life and zombies brought rage, murder, and hunger with them on a deadly crusade through the galaxy.

Starting way back in 4645 BBY (or the battle of Yavin), a planet called Odaser-Faustin had a Sith academy established by Darth Drear, who used the academy. Underneath the ground lay an ancient Sith chamber that would have given him immortality through the use of dark rituals and a virus that he had concocted.

While infected with the virus, he was unsuccessful in his mission to sacrifice a Jedi and achieve his goal of immortality. Thus, he succumbed to the sickness and turnef into a zombie.

Later on, during what would be the Cold War in 3645 BBY, another Sith Lord named Darth Scabrous attempted to complete what Drear was not able to accomplish before his death. Despite doing every step precisely and having all the exact ingredients, including the vital component, the Murakami orchid, the entire Sith academy students, staff, and faculty alike, apart from one dockhand, were affected by the virus and turned into zombies.

Rakghol plague

The Rakghoul plague or disease was designed by an ancient Sith Lord named Karness Muur. Seeking a means to cheat death and achieve control over the galaxy, he forged a Sith amulet which over time came to be known as the Muur Talisman, an item into which Muur poured his mind, will, and Sith magic into. The Talisman's power would turn any conscious being within its vicinity into a Rakghoul, a Sith-spawned mutant bent to Muur's will.

But the Talisman's power was all but perfect. It would not transform Force-sensitives or beings of certain non-Human species into Rakghouls, hence why Muur created the plague to compensate for that weakness. The virus-like plague, carried by every Rakghoul, could be spread to another being via a bite or a scratch. The victim would then suffer an incubation period of six to forty-eight hours before being transformed into a Rakghoul, making it fully capable of spreading to other parts of the galaxy.

Before, during, and after what would be the Mandalorian Wars, the plague spread unchecked through the Undercity of the planet Taris. Over a million Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders fell victim to the plague's effects on the ice-covered world of Jebble. Though the Rakghouls were believed to have become extinct before the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Rakghoul plague and its carriers would continue to thrive in the galaxy under the powers of the Muur Talisman until 137 ABY (or after the Battle of Yavin) when the Sith artifact was destroyed by the Jedi Cade Skywalker on the Imperial controlled world of Had Abbadon

The Techno-Organic Virus is a nano gene pathogen originally created by Sith alchemist and scientist
Belia Darzu, and later synthesized and improved upon by Darth Kuruk. The virus infected living
organisms and grew metallic tumors over the bodies of its victims ultimately lobotomizing their brain
and transforming them into weaponized cyborgs.
Once the victim is infected the host goes through three stages before the transformation is complete. At
stage one the nano gene spore or droids instinctively move towards the brain, lobotomizing their frontal
lobe making them incapable of higher thought. At this stage the process is irreversible, and the subject is
forever classified as Sith-spawn.
At stage two the subject quickly begins sprouting growths on their body, metallic and mechanical
tumors that sear away the victims flesh and begin to grow and transform their host. The tumors multiply
and spread across the subjects entire body, which evolve and mutate the host into unrecognizable
beings called Technobeasts.
At stage three they are fully transformed. Most remnants of living tissue on the creatures will have
rotted away, leaving behind only small strands of flesh, sinew, and bone surrounded by metallic scraps,
rods, and wires. The transformation also deteriorates the victims vocal cords, making the Technobeasts
incapable of speech. Due to the innately experimental nature of the virus, all subjects transformed
differently resulting in each spawn being unique.
Designed with destruction in mind, most humanoid Technobeasts have their arms replaced with
vibroblades or saws, and some have jagged blades extending as far back as their elbows, all of which
make them deadly melee attackers. Larger Technobeasts, created from Rancor or Bantha host bodies,
are created with large claws or vibroaxes and usually have heavy repeating blaster cannons or even
turbo lasers mounted on their back and shoulders.
