The NV-HS930 is a fairly high end S-VHS recorder which includes a digital timebase corrector (TBC). It is built on the Panasonic Z-mechanism. One day it worked, the next day the bottom part of the picture is covered in snow. You might think this is a tape path problem but the actual fault is much more interesting than that. Can we get it going again?

Just in case it wasn't clear from the video, the hi-fi audio was also tested both at the start (not working) and at the end (then working).
