She eloquently describes education as eternal, unbroken, indivisible, and uninterrupted: “AADI, ANANT, AKHAND ABHED, ACCHED.”
In her discourse, she guided us through the profound influence of Indian culture on the global stage. Addressing an academic audience, she underscored the importance of students embracing a lifelong commitment to learning by adopting the five essential virtues of a student: the perseverance of a crow, the focus of a crane, the restfulness of a dog, moderate eating habits, and a dedication to simplicity.
A celebrated dancer, Sonal has been unique among dancers for her concern for issues of ecological imbalance, environment protection, empowerment of women and social justice specially for weaker sections of society which have led to creation of numerous path-breaking choreographies. She has performed, given lectures and conducted workshops in 90 countries of the world.Sonal’s ever vibrant creativity has given new dimensions to known repertories practiced in India. Natya-Katha is the ancient form of story-telling which Sonal has embellished with her own singing, narrative skills and abhinaya i.e. the art of expressive communication through hand-gestures, words and a face that reflects myriad emotions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
