Excel tables are probably Excel’s best kept secret. They are an essential part of working with pivot tables, pivot charts and even power pivot.

Excel tables will allow you to define an area as a Table Object in Excel, complete with it’s own name and reference system. From here, when you add extra data to the table, the Table Object will expand to accommodate these new items.

This means than when you add new lines or columns, Pivot tables that feed off of your Excel table will automatically recognize them and include them in the calculations as soon as you hit refresh.

By the end of this video, you’ll be able to convert data to Excel tables, recognize the benefits of doing so, and act on all the features.
