Coming into a pre-established role is always a daunting and challenging task, and I can imagine its even more intimidating for a show with such as Doctor Who. The Doctor is a cultural sci-fi icon, known by millions of people around the world spanning generations of fans, some who have been following the character for 60 years, so yeah I can imagine that when Matt Smith got the call saying he was going to be the new doctor, he was initially excited, but then probably a little nervous. I think Matt Smith did a fantastic job, and in this video I am going to look into how his characterisation and performance allowed him to highlight the darker side of the doctor.
In this video I dive in to Matt Smiths Characterisation of the Eleventh Doctor, looking in particular at one scene found in the episode 'A Good Man Goes To War' that I like to call, The 'Colonel Runaway' scene.
