Old School Style Custom BMX Project

I bought this unbranded BMX bike, which has an old-school looking frame design, forks, bars and stem.

It’s probably not as old as it looks, due to having V-brake mounts. So the bike has been fully stripped down, with the frame and forks being repainted and built back up into this custom satin black and yellow themed bike.

The frame and forks were originally painted olive green, but I’ve gone over them with Bricklane Bikes powder coat system paint in satin black. The bars and stem have been done in gloss black.

The original one-piece cranks were all painted black, but after being stripped down, they revealed to be almost polished steel. The chain ring was also painted, but I’ve discovered it’s a CD compact disc 44T chain ring. I’ve re painted the teeth and centre parts in satin black and cleaned it all up.

I’ve fitted a load of new parts, which are in keeping with the old school look. Despite the V-brakes, I think it’s still a real head turner and a rad little bike.

Specs Include:

Old-school styled frame and forks with chrome gyro system plates
Alloy quill stem in black
Gloss black handlebars
One-piece crank with a 44T ‘compact disc’ chain ring
Pair of chrome 3/8” screw-on stunt pegs
New complete set of Clarks alloy V-brakes in black
New complete set of yellow brake pads (so the rims don’t mark)
New lower Clarks gyro cable in black
New alloy brake levers with black bodies and gold levers
New Skyway ‘style’ five spoke mag wheels in yellow
New 16T freewheel
New gold KMC wide gauge chain with quick link
New gumwall and black street tyres and inner tubes
New pair of yellow dice dust caps
New chrome laid back seat post (300mm long)
New yellow plastic railed skeleton race bike saddle
New yellow mushroom style grips

It’s a great looking old school looking bike, ideal for a collection, wall hanger or further personalising.

I’ve given it and quick spin and it rides really nicely.
