Diabetes is perhaps the world's deadliest disease, increasing the risk of heart attack, stroke, circulation problems, death and disability.
But the excellent news is that it can be reversed, it is possible to cure diabetes naturally and take fewer remedies if we detect it in the early stages, just like prediabetes and insulin resistance.

Diabetes is a condition in which the body does not produce enough insulin or does not properly use the insulin it does produce. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas and helps glucose (sugar) enter cells to give them energy.

In this video, as an expert metabolism doctor, I explain everything you need to know about this disease, including the main myths and truths about food and the best diet for people with diabetes.

What can a diabetic have for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

It is false that those who have diabetes cannot eat fruits. This is one of the biggest lies that exists. Diabetics should eat fruits every day to improve glycemic control.

The best fruits for diabetes are those with the lowest glycemic index (and also the glycemic load). In the top 10 are: peach, orange, strawberry, plum, pears, passion fruit, apple, guava, avocado and pomegranate (cherries can also enter this list). I also tell you that these fruits have other health benefits.

There are also fruits considered “not allowed” or “forbidden” in diabetes, but this is false. There is no fruit that should not be eaten. But it is true that you have to be careful and moderate the consumption of those that have more sugar: banana, watermelon, grapes, pineapple, melon and mango. These are considered to have a higher glycemic index, and should be avoided every day.

The glycemic index is a measure that tells how much sugar a food contains, or fructose in the case of fruits, and is classified as:
-Low glycemic index: up to 55
-Moderate glycemic index: 56-69
-High glycemic index: greater than 70

Glycemic load is a measure that tells how much blood sugar can increase after eating some food and is classified as:
-Low: 0-10
-Moderate: 11-19
-High: 20 or more
