Here is a day in the life of an indie game dev. Now, unfortunately I am not a full-time indie game developer, but I tried to show a typical sunday in my life balancing part-time game dev and regular life.

For beginner game devs, or people interested in learning game development or game design, I think balance is really important. Most of us part-time indie game devs have to balance a full-time job, game development, hobbies, relationships, health, and much more. So its only natural for learning game development and building your first game, or building your "dream" game to take awhile.

What has worked for me when it comes to learning game development, and trying to finish up my first indie game Castlemancer, is to squeeze it in where I can and want. Some days I only want to focus on the game, and I'll make huge progress on features. Other days, I want nothing to do with game dev or Unity. But overall, I think that has allowed me to largely avoid the burnout that most often is associated with learning game developement and building games in general. Its really important to remember that game development is a marathon and not a sprint. There are times in game development when you made need to sprint a little bit, but overall it can take years to full get into game dev and build out a fully-featured game.

I also give a mini devlog of new features in Castlemancer in this video, so let me know if you have any tips regarding the game or tips on learning game development.
