In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shows you how Magnus Carlsen countered the Fried Liver Attack played by an Indian Grandmaster. It's a simple yet effective method that gave Magnus a winning position in just 10 moves.

While there are several ways to counter the Fried Liver Attack, such as the Traxler Counterattack, Ponziani-Steinitz Gambit, and the main line, they often come with the drawback of being too theoretical.

However, Magnus's approach (Polerio Defense, Bishop Check Line) is much easier to learn, simpler, and yet highly effective.
