One Love In My Lifetime - My Wonderful Travels with Diana Ross and Her Tribe Thru The Years

 Published On Mar 22, 2024

This is a video in celebration of Ms. Ross's 80th birthday! To be more precise, it's a video of her fans, known affectionately as "The Tribe" - a title bestowed upon them in a book by Tom Adahtas, "The Diva and Her Tribe." Having seen Diana Ross several times, from "An Evening With Ms Ross" in 1976 (my first!) to her 1981 televised concert at the Forum in L.A., I made a life changing decision 2007. While attending a concert at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, I noticed an entourage of fans, before the show. They all seemed excited and most wore clothing with Diana Ross prominently displayed. It aroused my curiosity and I wondered how anyone could publicly be so smitten by a celebrity. I had never known fandom before until this. I've known about Beatlemania and Elvis Presley groupies, but I never really thought it was a "thing." After the concert, I met a few of those fans who told me how they would go from one concert to another to see her. I found their stories fascinating. One of them mentioned that Diana Ross was going to have a concert in New York City at Madison Square Garden and there was going to be a party afterwards to celebrate Ms Ross and invited me to it! It all sounded crazy to me, but also a lot of fun. Thus started my journey across the nation and overseas to see Ms Ross perform live in front of her fans that has continues to this day! From Honolulu, HI to Boston, MA; from Cardiff Castle in Wales to the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK, to Amsterdam, NL and more, it's been one fantastic journey! I recently have called Diana Ross my travel agent because she has opened up the world to me! The places I've seen. But the journey has also allowed me to meet wonderful people across the globe who shared the same passion as me, for a woman who has given the world so much. I've been lucky to be able to call many of the faces you see in this video, as my friend. I've always considered myself a loner, but it's hard to tell by this video. The smiles, the laughter, the camaraderie, all because of this One Woman. I never thought I would be in the company of such wonderful and talented people. From me to you, friend to friend.
