Slippery concrete can be very hazardous and should be fixed or avoided altogether for walking surfaces. Some concrete finishes, such as stamped concrete, can make the concrete extremely slippery, especially when wet, and is not really ideal for things like steps or around a swimming pool. There are only a few options, really, to make any concrete less slippery.

The most common way to fix a slippery concrete surface is by applying a concrete sealer that contains silica sand within it. This new surface layer basically turns the concrete surface into a form of sand paper. add another layer of concrete sealer without silica sand in it to help lock in the sandy layer. There is more purchase and tack for walking across the surface.

It is a great option for fixing slippery concrete to minimize the possibility of accidents and injuries. However, this is not a permanent fix for slippery concrete. It will still be a little slippery, but much less than it was, and the non-slip sealer finish will wear away and need reapplication. This sealing option is a much less harmful solution for making concrete less slippery than aggressive acid washing to leave the concrete surface bare (which could cause a host of other issues) or resurfacing the concrete with a less slippery texture.
