Thias is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Toyota Prius compact hatchback hybrid.
The Toyota Prius has a 2L 4-cylinder matched to an e-CVT with a combined 196 horsepower for AWD and 194 horsepower for FWD models. The previous Toyota Prius model had 120 horsepower, that’s a 60% power boost. Standard AWD in Canada, FWD and AWD options are available on all trims in the US. There are two Toyota Prius trims in Canada and three in the US. Standard features in Canada include, an 8” touchscreen, 7” driver display, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, heated steering wheel, a power driver’s seat, manual passenger seat, heated front seats, Softex upholstery and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
In the US, since there is a more strip down base modelToyota Prius , moving up one from this trim will add many of these features.
Optional features include, the 12.3” touchscreen, driver seat memory, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, a panoramic view monitor, JBL sound system, the fixed glass roof, heated rear seats and a power tailgate.
The Toyota Prius AWD model gets excellent fuel economy, 4.8L/100 km, 49 MPG city And 4.7L/100 km, 50 MPG highway.
In Canada, the Prius starts at $39,625 CAD and the top Limited trim is $45,965 CAD. In the US, LE FWD $27,450 USD, AWD $28,850 USD, XLE FWD $30,895 USD AWD $32,295 USD, Limited FWD $34,465 USD, AWD $35,865 USD. We have the top trim Prius, priced at $45,965 CAD/$35,865 USD.
The top Toyota Prius is loaded with plenty of features including, the larger 12.3” touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 7” digital driver display, wireless charger, a panoramic view monitor, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, a power driver’s seat, manual passenger seat, SofTex upholstery, driver seat memory, the JBL sound system, heated rear seats, a fixed glass roof and a power liftgate.
In the US, there are some optional features on the top trim, heated rear seats and a panoramic view monitor are not standard.
The Toyota Prius gets a 60% power boost compared to the previous model. It has a 2L 4-cylinder matched to an e-CVT with a combined 196 horsepower for AWD and 194 horsepower for FWD models. Standard AWD in Canada, FWD and AWD options are available on all trims in the US.
Then there’s the fuel economy, this one is tough to beat, 4.8L/100 km, 49 MPG city
and 4.7L/100 km, 50 MPG highway.
The Toyota Prius is a great option, but if you are looking for a more budget friendly hybrid, check out the Corolla Hybrid, it may not have the power this Prius has, but the price point is very good as is the fuel economy.
