Opium’s takeover of the underground has been a major highlight of 2022 for a reason. With budding Playboi Carti prodigies in Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely and Homixide Gang all rounding into form this past year, their ascension isn’t a fluke or forced upon by Carti’s star power. While each Opium emcee holds inspiration from the mysterious King Vamp, their respective sounds and styles all offer something unique. They’re all difference makers in their own right. For Lone, it’s melodies. For HxG, it’s blitzing energy — much like Ken Carson. However, Lone and HxG are the latest to link up within the 00PIUM camp, as the label continues to remain tight-knit by hopping on multiple tracks and joining each other on tour. As a guest on Carson’s ‘X Tour’ this past year, Lonely’s returning the favor to Opium’s newest members — bringing on Homixide Gang as the opener to his ‘No Stylist Tour.’ Continuing to shed light on their chokehold of the new wave, OGM host Hakeem Rowe takes you behind the scenes of their recent Los Angeles show!
