Some points discussed during this lesson:

The second matter: Proof from the Sunnah regarding the obligation of loving the Messenger ﷺ.

Three conclusive aḥadīth regarding the obligation of loving the Messenger ﷺ more than ourselves, parents, children and all of mankind.

Imām Ibn Rajab (رحمه الله) on completing one’s īmān by putting the love of the Messenger ﷺ before the love of any of the creation.

Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar (رحمه الله) on the benefit that comes about by way of loving the Messenger ﷺ.

Signs of loving the Messenger ﷺ:

1. Desiring to see him and yearning to meet him ﷺ.

2. Following him and traversing upon his Sunnah ﷺ.

3. Loving those whom he ﷺ loved.

4. Loving his Companions (رضى الله عنهم).

Proof from the Sunnah regarding having love for the Companions.

The Fourth Right: The Obligation to Aid, Venerate and Revere Him ﷺ

Allāh’s command to aid and honour the Messenger ﷺ.

The first matter: The meaning of at-Ta’zīr.

Ibn Taymiyyah’s (رحمه الله) definition of at-Ta’zīr.

Ibn Jarīr (رحمه الله) on the meaning of at-Tawqīr.

A benefit regarding what we should do if we do not understand something when seeking knowledge.

The second matter: A mention of some instances of revering and respecting the Prophet ﷺ in his lifetime.

1. The impermissibility of speaking before the Messenger ﷺ up until he gives permission, and its evidence from the Qur’ān.

2. The impermissibility of raising one’s voice above the voice of the Messenger ﷺ, and its evidence from the Qur’ān.

The story of how Thābit b. Qays (رضى الله عنه) was deeply affected by the revelation of this āyah (Sūrah al-Ḥujurāt 49:2).
