Tomatoes rotting at the bottom or the blossom end of the tomato is called blossom end rot. There are many reasons that cause blossom end rot which are all related to calcium deficiency in the tomato plants. Either the plants are not able to intake calcium from the soil or the soil lacks proper calcium to supply to the plants. Inconsistent watering is the main reason for plants inability to intake calcium. If calcium is lacking in the soil, the best way to add calcium is to use egg shells, lime, or gypsum. These methods will combat blossom end rot so you can enjoy the fruit!
