Using swear words can feel naughty, fun and even have a cathartic effect, but in 1920’s conservative British society, it can lead to a lot of trouble. On this week’s ReelTalk, Ben reviews British mystery comedy, Wicked Little Letters. Starring Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Favorite) Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter), Timothy Spall (The King’s Speech, Harry Potter) and Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones’ Diary), viewers can expect to giggle while learning a few new cuss words for your next rap battle. Wicked Little Letters is based on a true story, where residents of a small British village begin receiving eye-wateringly obscene anonymous letters causing social uproar and an investigation by the local constabulary. The movie follows the search for the letter sender, while also giving viewers a fascinating and fun history lesson. Directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You) Wicked Little Letters is now showing in cinemas.
