Sword Art Online has a terrible history as a franchise. It's been clowned on to such a point that it's commonly thought of as the token trashy anime. Almost no other series has a reputation as terrible and as widespread as this one does, and while some of it may be a bit much, much of the hate is pretty well deserved. The first two seasons of this show are littered with disappointment after disappointment, so much so that many devout fans of the series gave up on enjoying the show unironically. But recently the perception of the show has changed. With the recent lineup of content that has come out of the franchise being considered great by many of the people who watched it. And the moment this change started to take effect was in Sword Art Online Season 3, Alicization. So let's take a look at what choices Sword Art Online made to turn itself around in such a way and how the series benefited from these changes in the long run. Let's take a look at how Sword Art Online did the impossible.
