Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is the largest publicly listed power company in Southeast Asia with US $27.3 billion worth of assets. Also known as Tenaga Nasional, or TNB, it serves over 9.2 million customers throughout Peninsular Malaysia. With TNB’s core activities in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, providing effective customer service is a major concern when outages occur in the low-voltage areas of their network, that is, in those areas which locally impact their customers’ homes or businesses.

Implementation of Mobile Field Force Automation (MFFA) that integrates Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) with Geospatial Information System (GIS) has improved communication, coordination and customer relationship management between field force workers and electricity customers. As part of the regulatory requirements, MFFA has remarkably helps to sustain SAIDI below 50 mins and reducing long duration restorations (CAIDI).

Furthermore, it helps TNB to improve on-site information management. TNB field crews utilize devices equipped with GPS to provide real time location information and enables supervisors to identify the nearest available field crew to ensure the fastest response in attending to breakdowns. Incident information, all field crews, and TNB assets can be viewed on the real-time map that is embedded in MFFA system.
