In this epic conclusion to our 2021 Iceland Road Trip we struck gold! Part 2 concluded with our wonderful gorge walk at the Fjadrargljufur Canyon in southern Iceland.

Days of torrential rain had set in for southern Iceland and this meant even short walks to visit roadside tourist attractions was a horrible experience. More importantly, Fagradalsfjall had started erupting again. We didn't waste any time and after our gorge walk, drove all day, through the deluge, back to Reykjanes.

We reached the volcano site after nightfall and hurried uphill as we could see the lava flowing down the hillside in the distance. What followed was an indescribable night witnessing the raw power of nature as Fagradalsjfall spewed lava down the mountain side into the small hours of the night. Emily and I agreed; it was probably the best thing we'd ever witnessed.

This was only the first part of an epic last few days in Iceland. The next day I ended up back at a spot I had recced for coasteering on the second day of our visit. It was the Brimketill Surf Cauldron, which was only a short distance from Fagradalsfjall. The weather was lovely and the sea conditions were calm. So, without further ado I got geared up and went exploring the Brimketill Surf Cauldron area by coasteering.

And it was amazing! A genuinely top piece of coastline for coasteering, join me as I adventure along this amazing basalt coastline on Iceland's Reykjanes peninsula.

And we weren't done there. As soon as the coasteering was completed, we headed back to the volcano. We spent the afternoon and night, once again, witnessing this incredible spectacle. And we were very lucky to do so - 24 hours later, the volcano stopped erupting altogether.

I hope you enjoyed this tour of Iceland. Make sure to subscribe for more coasteering adventures, both in Cornwall and around the world.
