This educational film was made in the 1950s. The narrator was very familiar to us students growing up at that time. Without any special effects and hardly any music, the story reveals itself and for me at least both then and now, it works (as they say in the film industry with something works or doesn't) and engages me. After all of the advances in science since the 1950s, I didn't really know that a squirrel was that smart or that he/she could learn that quickly. Squeak is one smart beast and I have decided to treat the squirrels in my neighborhood with more respect. I talk with local dogs and cats and birds and I feel that they understand me. So does my tortoise. But up until I saw this film in my archive where I have thousands of films from my youth as a junior high school student and high school student, I had no idea the squirrel could figure out puzzles as we did in this film.

I doubt that any of my subscribers who watch this have ever seen this film before because you have to be at least 70 years old to have had it presented to you back then.

But when you see it, isn't squeak cute? And smart?
