Nearly a decade after it was announced, the Flash movie has finally been released to the public … though looking at the numbers, it would have been better if it wasn’t. Between the opening weekend boxoffice, the lacklustre word of mouth, and the immense cost that went into making the movie, we can already call it: This will go down in cinema history as one of the biggest flops of all time.

In this postmortem, we will explore why that is, by first going through these early numbers and reactions, and how the movies production history makes them so extraordinarily bad.
