The Chesterfield County sheriff was captured on a secret recording, sitting in a criminal defendant's living room promising to intervene in the pending prosecution of the man.

A man charged with trying to rob two men and trying to kill them in June 2020.

The sheriff and the recording are now at the center of a S.C. Law Enforcement Division criminal investigation.
