A 28-year-old man presented with a bulge on the left side of his neck and severe stabbing pain during swallowing. One year prior, he experienced a neck contusion of the left side with subsequent persistent pain. The following day, swelling and subcutaneous bleeding developed in his neck; two weeks after the injury, he started experiencing a left cervical bulge and intense stabbing pain during swallowing. We performed dynamic swallowing computed tomography to assess the dynamic structural changes during swallowing. A, The left omohyoid and sternocleidomastoid muscles bulged outward during swallowing. B, The position of the intermediate tendon of the left omohyoid muscle moved from a deep to superficial position during swallowing and pushed the sternocleidomastoid muscle up from below.
