This is a Pre-Calculus introduction to Newton's law of heating/cooling. This is a classic AP Calculus topic. While you will need to wait until you learn Calculus to be able to derive this equation, you can get a good sense of how it works without Calculus. In this video I do my best to give you an intuitive sense of how the equation works, as well as why we need it. I'll take you through a complete solution of two sample problems, and contrast it with the more well known and simple equation for exponential growth/decay. I will look at the logistic equation (a more sophisticated model for more realistic population growth) in the next video, also with an eye towards getting a sense of how it works without going through the actual derivation.
