Here’s the full time lapse video of the little old Mercedes Vito I just completed.

Start to finish in 7 ½ minutes.

This was about cramming as much freedom as possible into a budget build. I did this by using some of the existing paneling that was already in the van, the existing floor, left over insulation from Ed Gamester’s (   / @edgamester3604  ) massive luton conversion, more recycled insulation from refrigerated food deliveries and the really lovely folks at Pilstye farm who allowed me the use of one of their barns to stay out of the rain. This allowed me to save money to put towards a better electrical system to allow a short period of off grid camping and the freedom that comes with that.

The build took place in temperatures below zero Celsius on many occasions but I managed to get it done and I’m really happy with the results. Special shout out goes to Richard Legget who got me the space in the barn, helped with jobs that needed two people, provided coffee and helped me with some sword training each day all while being a genuine top bloke.

Uncle Vito has a beautiful, handmade sink and tap using a copper jam pot and electric pump. Fresh & waste water tanks accessible from the sliding door. Camping stove for inside and outside cooking, New side window with curtains. Curtains to separate the cab. Vent window with storage area/windowsill and blind. Kitchen countertop with sliding door storage below, allowing access to cupboards even when the bed is extended. Single bed that extends to small double bed with storage underneath. Boxed in camping toilet with storage behind. 100Ah battery with split charge system, electric hook up with multi stage battery charger and 240v household sockets in copper finish to match the kitchen. 5 USB ports, Car charger port for the cool box which runs off both 12/240v, battery level indicator and touch sensitive LED down lights sat in a beautifully cladded roof.
