Everyone grew up with a friend who had "the fun parent." You know, the one who let you stay up all night and drink the caffeinated soda while your responsible parents limited you to water. That parent may have been fun, but they still managed to attend every soccer game and PTA meeting on time and well-prepared.

The Lexus NX 300 F Sport is the epitome of "the fun parent." It is a compact crossover that has been injected with some F Sport flavor in order to appeal to buyers who want to remain practical but also have a bit of fun.

For 2018, the NX drops its 200t name in favor of the 300 moniker, but the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 235 horsepower remains unchanged.

While the looks are polarizing, the Enform infotainment system is pretty universally hated, keeping the NX from being a truly great crossover. If the infotainment doesn't bother you, the NX is a cheaper alternative to its German rivals and is extremely competent on the road.
