Abstract art began in 1910 and is credited to Wassily Kandinsky, "The Father of Abstraction" . . . right?

Well, after watching this video, you might question that fact.

A spirit medium named Georgiana Houghton created what are clearly abstract artworks as early as the 1860's. So why isn't she credited as "The Mother of Abstraction??"

Well, it might have something to do with the fact that she claimed her artworks were created by her spirit guides during seances she conducted during her work as a Spiritualist medium.

Today we will look at the life and artwork of Georgiana Houghton and learn about the forgotten art of Spiritualist drawings/Mediumistic drawing, something that was wildly popular in Victorian England around the same time seances, talking to spirits and the study of the paranormal was born!.
