See how I recycled a BMG style extruder clone I was using for a bowden configuration to construct a Sherpa Micro extruder design by Annex Engineering for a direct drive configuration and saved about 150g in weight in the process. If you have a BMG extruder you plan on retiring, this might be a good option for you when you choose to upgrade your 3d printer extruder. Note that this is very similar to the Sherpa Mini and uses the same parts. An old Voron afterburner or stealthburner can be used for parts to build one as well since they all use the same gear set.
