Today I am back at the shop helping a friend and fellow RV creator @nomaddiaries3201 with their 2002 Rexhall Clipper. When they purchased the RV just months ago, the slide stopped working and they did the hard part of making and installing all new hoses. Unfortunately, leaks just start with the weak spots first and after the new hoses were installed, the slide never really worked correctly and bound up. I was asked to help and just figured the system needed to be bled and purged correctly, but soon found the front cylinder was leaking bad. After removing the ram, the seals were found to be brittle and falling aprart. While replacing the cylinder would be the best repair, HWH did not have them in stock and two cylinders would have been very expensive and still taken over a month to get. Luckily, I had found a local supplier a few years ago while repairing a Winnebago slide and was able to access that video for the information. So we did the next best thing and went back to Marting Fluid Seals in Phoenix and got seals to re-build the rams and install.
Here is the process and the parts were less than $40, but I did get extra just in case.
