The 2023 Mercedes C43 AMG is here and the biggest change over the previous generation is that it loses 2 cylinders and adds an electric motor.

The result is a boost in power to 402 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. Up from 385 hp in the previous, V6 powered C43.

It’s the same powertrain as we talked about in the SL43 AMG video which means it also has an electric motor to reduce turbo lag.

Even though it’s only a 4-cylinder, it’s still pretty quick with a 0-60mph time in about 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 165 mph, but only if you choose the 19 or 20 inch wheel option. If you go for the standard 18” wheels Mercedes limit the top speed to 155mph.

The 2023 C43 will go on-sale later this year with a price predicted to start around $60,000.
