In medieval times, King Big Nose is so fed up with his palace when servant Pink Panther that he gives him the opportunity to become a knight by sending him out on a mission to slay a dragon that's a threat to his kingdom, doing so only because his servant is expendable. After journeying up to the mountain he resides, Pink Panther tries various ways to defeat the dragon, only to find that he is afraid of mice, giving him the chance to make a deal with him. The dragon returns with Pink Panther, forcing the king to officially make him a knight while the dragon can provide entertainment as well as heat for the coming winter.

The Pink Panther is a British-American media franchise primarily focusing on a series of comedy-mystery films featuring an inept French police detective, Inspector Jacques Clouseau. The franchise began with the release of the classic Pink Panther film in 1963. The role of Clouseau was originated by, and is most closely associated with, Peter Sellers. Most of the films were written and directed by Blake Edwards, with theme music composed by Henry Mancini. Elements and characters inspired by the films were adapted into other media, including books, comic books and animated series.

The first film in the series derives its name from the eponymous pink diamond that has an enormous size and value. The diamond is called the "Pink Panther" because the flaw at its centre, when viewed closely, is said to resemble a leaping pink panther. The phrase reappears in the title of the fourth film The Return of the Pink Panther, in which the theft of the diamond is again the centre of the plot. The phrase was used for all the subsequent films in the series, even when the jewel did not figure in the plot. The jewel ultimately appeared in six of the 11 films.

Pink Panther and Pals is an American animated television series and a modern adaptation of the classic DePatie-Freleng Pink Panther shorts from the 1960s. The program was produced for Boomerang by Desert Panther Production and Rubicon Studios in association with The Mirisch Company and MGM Television. It premiered on March 7, 2010.

Like the classic cartoon show, the program is composed of two seven-minute Pink Panther shorts and a seven-minute Ant and the Aardvark short in between, retaining the main characters in both shorts though with some changes.
