[UPDATE]: Bolts are retrievable from infected/players/animals now. Bolts take a lot of durability damage when fired now, last 4 to 12 shots depending on type. You can remove bolts from yourself by bandaging.
Crossbow bolts can now get stuck inside various objects while maintaining their physics and hitboxes in DayZ 1.21. This opens up a plethora of new possibilities for players to experiment with.
