When we bought our GeoPro it came with a memory foam mattress but it had almost no support. Adding a 3" topper made it work for 4 years of travel. But this past year we realized that we were waking up too often in pain and it was time to replace. And the hunt began.

We knew there were certain things we wanted in a mattress:
1. Made in the US
2. Easy return policy if we didn't like it
3. RV Queen size
4. 9" height if possible (our current height)
5. Keep the weight down. This was the big one. We have just over 600lbs of cargo carrying capacity and didn't want to lose 10% of that by adding 60 lbs to a mattress.

So we started reading as many blogs and online sites that review RV mattresses. And one name came up that we hadn't heard before - Sleepdog! Now they are part of a much larger company - BedInABox - that has been around for a long time. After reviewing the website, we found the BigDawg (actually a truck mattress) met all of our requirements and would only add about 15lbs to our current setup. That we could do. So we went ahead and ordered.

As it is made in Mt Airy NC, it took just 36 hours to be delivered! Troy easily got it in the camper and within 15 minutes it was set up and fully inflated. We were very impressed with the cover and that it has a zipper all around (although check the warranty (10 year limited) regarding removing the cover as that may impact it). And it is flippable - one side is firm and the other (the pillowtop side), I would say med to med firm. So the real question was - could we sleep on it?

The first night as we mention in the video, we weren't sold. We thought it would be a bit softer. But over the next few weeks it did soften up some and we found ourselves sleeping through the night. At the end of 30 nights - Troy loves it. I would have liked something a bit softer but I sleep fine. And being able to find something that both of us can sleep on and fits into the weight and size we needed - we are happy with our purchase. I may add a bit more cushier foam to my side under the mattress protector in time. But we also expect it to continue to soften up a bit as well.

As I mentioned, the BigDawg is under the truck mattress line (although fine for RV's) but they do have 2 other RV mattresses as well that are thicker and softer. But of course - heavier! A small couples camper can sometimes be a challenge!!

Lastly - we purchased our mattress on a 35% sale but over the holidays we saw it on sale for 50%! So if you have time, watch for a sale.

As the year goes on, we will update this description for any changes and will try to do a review video in late 2024/early 2025.

As always - thanks for watching and Happy Camping!
