This Chinese Hospital Was Built in 19 days

When the pandemic first began, in early 2020, all eyes were glued to China. Something else, as seemingly as impossible as the pandemic, was unfolding before the world. As Covid swept across the nation, the Chinese government constructed a 1,000-bed hospital in just 10 days in Wuhan. Even more impressive, they live-streamed the whole construction project, from the first brick to the final fitting.

The Huoshenshan Hospital, as it was christened, covered 60,000 square metres. It includes beds, intensive care units, and diagnosis and infection control sectors. The project should have taken two years to complete. China completed the construction in less than two weeks. And a second dedicated hospital with 1,300 beds was completed shortly after.

To the world watching, this is a level of construction speed unparalleled globally. Almost miraculous in its speed and efficiency.

But that wasn't anything new. The world was impressed. But it was not surprised. Who else but China? After all, the East Asia tiger has developed a reputation for delivering immense constructions ahead of schedule.

In this video, I'll be delving into the fast-paced world of Chinese construction, asking how does China build so fast? Is there a secret to their efficiency? And how do Chinese construction projects compare to the rest of the world?
